As a professional land surveyor it is important to be able to set pins in granite and other material. This tool is excellent for my uses. Light enough to hike in with other gear but powerful enough to make short work of the drilling when I get there. I haven't owned it for long but if it is as durable as it is powerful I'd buy more for other crews. I drill 5/8" holes 3 to 5 inches deep, infrequent but regular use. So far the first battery has held up well.

We use this to install 3/4" anchors for swimming pool safety covers. Not having to fight an extension cord is the benefit of this unit. We are getting 20 holes per battery so you need 2 batteries to do one large pool. This unit comes with the big batteries which are a must for this application. Our holes are about 1 1/4 inch deep. Weight of unit is not an issue. We often install these with absent homeowner so this also eliminates travel to site and kicking a breaker.

I use this tool mainly for bolting new rock-climbing routes. I've drilled coarse and fine granite as well as hard, fine-grained basalt, and this tool drills holes fast and clean. The long battery life means I don't have to go up and down a bunch of times every day.

I use this drill on concret and block walls. It works just as well as my corded bosch bulldog hammer drill. You will notice when the batteries start to get low. it beats the daylights out of dragging a cord around.

This drill was purchased for setting survey corners in rock/conc/asph and for digging-up corners in frozen ground. Both drilling and chiseling work very well, however, in the hammer-only mode for chiseling (in asph, no frozen ground yet) the battery runs down rather quickly. I set anywhere from 10 to 100 routes a year outside climbing. This drill has probably drilled 3000 holes and is still on the first 2 batteries with no loss of power. I get a minimum of 15 3/8 by 3 1/2 holes per charge in granite. Fantastic drill!!

I'm drilling 1/2" holes into very hard granite boulders to put in anchors for a barb-wire fence. This drill is incredible - goes through granite like a normal drill goes through soft pine. Battery life is excellent. Bits are very easy to insert and remove. This drill wasn't cheap, but it was worth every penny I paid for it.

I have a 7/8" electric unit and I didn't expect this battery unit to match an electric. My first hole I needed to drill was 1" X 8" deep. This drill plowed right through without a pilot hole.

Aside from it's weight and bulkiness this drill does the job.. It's loaded with power and the battery indicator light is one of my favorite features. I wish all cordless power tools had this feature. My only concern about it's weight is because I use this drill on mountains some fifty feet in the air while sitting in a harness. I've seen other climbers developing routes with the same drill and it looks like this drill can take a serious beating.
