My Ryobi 14.4 was going through batteries like no tomorrow so I decided to upgrade.
The Bosch exceeds it in every way. More rugged construction, better chuck, more power and I can't believe how much longer the batteries last. The 30 minute charger is great for when you are in jobs requiring heavy use.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I haven't owned it very long and cannot say how it will hold up for sure but right now every indication is that it will last a very long time.

6 months into warranty the chuck started releasing bits during use. Could not remove chuck to install replacement. Authorized dealer in Houston had to cut chuck off with a cutter (not covered by warranty).Get a good Jacobs hammer drill quality chuck for a replacement.

I've been a DeWalt tool person for years but I could not be happier with this drill. Very ergonomic, easy to reach controls, and the light, despite my doubts, is very useful. It has tackled everything I've thrown at it while rebuilding a wall and installing new built in bookcases. The batteries last longer than my XRP batteries did and the drill has ample power for every task a cordless is appropriate for. Except for the "RECON" marking the drill is perfect with no flaws. A QC sticker was misplaced and prevented the battery from locking into place but I simply moved it 1/4" to the right and the battery snaps into place perfectly.

Used mostly for carpenting and woodworking - great drill/driver. Relatively silent, powerful and well balanced, although slightly havier then I expected. Has a plenty of torque for smooth and effortless driving of, eg., 3 1/2" #10s into the studs or work with 1 1/2" fostner bit.
