I really like the 12v max line of tools. My other cordless tools are 36v line, great for commercial or industrial apps, but a bit heavy and cumbersome for residential and lighter jobs. I was surprised a 12v tool could perform on the level that they have performed.
I bought this six weeks ago to use primarily for my heated jacket to wear in our New England Winter. It charges very quickly (about 30 minutes). The first few times that I charged it, I found it quite difficult to slot the battery into the charger and get it out, and it did take me quite a few times to loosen it up enough for the connection to be comfortable. It was also a disappointment in the time range for the battery. When used in my heated jacket, it last about an hour before being drained enough to stop supplying power. I thought that maybe it was too much for the jacket and instead tried the battery on my Bosch drill, but again it was good for only a couple of hours before being drained. I did recharge the battery 6 times after it had expired its charge but see no change in the length of time of service
The battery kept working for a a long time and the charge cycle is short but .... the plastic locking tab broke apart on the battery I had with the oscillating tool. Misuse or vibration ? I don't know but, on a vibrating tool , the battery kept falling off whenever I placed the tool vertically ... So here is a problem for the engineering department.
I bought one of these last week because my five-year-old 412 batteries were losing their ability to hold a charge. Yes, it does charge quickly, but if the charge-level lights on my impact driver are any indication, this (presumably) new battery is not any better than my old ones. I wish I could read the manufacturing date to see if it was sitting in a warehouse too long before being sold.
I purchased the PS30 drill/charger/battery kit. Very happy with the drill and charger but the batteries were a different matter; both batteries (BATT 411 failed (would not accept a charge).I suspect the BATT 411 has been replaced by another model.
