Product Overview

The Bosch GLL3-80 360-DegreeThree-Plane Leveling and Alignment-Line Laser provides a complete level and alignment solution without any rotating motors. It allows operators to line up level, align, square and plumb with one setup point by generating three 360-Degree laser planes – one horizontal and two vertical. The Bosch Cone Mirror Technology projects bright laser “chalk lines” in 360-Degree. With fewer moving parts, this laser layout tool is more compact, lighter, easier to calibrate and simpler to use than traditional rotary lasers. Users can employ the three independent 360-Degree planes independently or together with the press of a button, which is great for aligning pipes and conduit, cabinet and shelf levelling and alignment, door and window installation, finish carpentry and more.
Three Independent 360-Degree Planes - The Bosch GLL3-80 360-Degree Three-Plane Leveling and Alignment-Line Laser provides one 360-Degree horizontal plane all around the room. It also provides two 360-Degree vertical planes with references that cover the floor, the wall and the ceiling, all at 360-Degree and all fully self-leveling. The two vertical lines cross at 90-Degree angles, so the user can instantly visualize and square the layout of the room. This tool was designed for a wide array of other installation and finishing jobs, such as layout remodeling, wall and floor covering, wall alignment and interior decorating. This laser is self-leveling, so operators no longer need bubble levels and plumb bobs.
Align Square and at an Angle - The Bosch GLL3-80 can set right angles for square, and operators can align the laser at an angle. Manual mode lets the user lock lines for use at any angle. Unlike traditional cross-line lasers, this laser can be situated on one reference mark, and it will project two 90-Degree layout lines from that setup point. This enables the tool to be setup once for laying out the entire room.
  • Provides three precise 360 degree full plane coverage in both horizontal and vertical operations
  • No rotation or motors to wear out or waste battery power
  • 90 degree horizontal and vertical bright red laser layout lines and electronic self-leveling
  • Freestanding base with magnets to attach to metal track
  • Both 1/4-in-20 and 5/8 in.-11 tripod mounting
  • Simple to use single button operation with little training requirements
  • "Pulse" laser receiver mode for use with optional LR2 laser receive at long distances and/or in bright light conditions
  • Smart Pendulum Leveling System self-levels and indicates out-of-level conditions
  • Secure transport lock protects pendulum when unit is switched off

Laser lines too thick for our work
Good product at a good price but the laser lines are too thick and not sharp when very precise measurements are called for - leaves too wide a margin for error. At approx. 25 feet the laser lines are almost 1/4" thick/wide.

I had read reviews about the GLL3-80 for sometime. The opions were mixed about it being accurate brand new out of the box. I had a chance to observe this model in action. I liked what I saw the lines were brite and thinner than what I was expecting. I got a chance to check it for accuracy. It was at the max for in being accepted horizontal, vertical was great.
When I discovered CPO's website, had reconditioned models at a very good price I figured that the tolerances would be tightened up on those units. I was right, the unit I got, all 3 planes were perfect (spot on) and the unit and case looked like brand new. I couldn't be happier. I used it on a vaulted beamed ceiling. The room had lots of windows. For the amount of brightness of the room it did great, the lines were brighter than our rotary laser we have. Though in a very brite room the lines will be faint but with red laser glasses you can pick them up. This unit saved a lot of time we had beams coming in at right angles. The only weak point I experanced was it was very sensitive to floor movement, so if someone is walking around and the floor has a litte give moves. There are other models that have a 3 plane feature that servo motors to keep line stable but $200 to $300 more I'll save my money for a little rare movment.

I have used this cross line laser extensively since receiving it 2 weeks ago. All use has been indoors. It is ridiculously simple to operate. The lines are crisp. The versatility of three planes simultaneously is awesome!

    Great product
The only complaint that I have with this product is that under strong ambient light the laser can be a little difficult to see. My poor color vision probably exacerbated the issue, but even my 10 year old son (who isn't color blind) took a few seconds to find the laser line. Once I put the laser target in place the issue was solved.

I found the unit to be very solidly built, well designed and very accurate. The a case that ships with it is very, very well designed and thought out. It even included storage space for the laser mount that comes with the separately sold mounting pole. It was nice to see that Bosch realized that users would need a place to store this item.

I would definitely recommend this item to anyone who is looking for a 360degree, 3 plane laser.

    One of my best purchpurchases.
I should of purchased this tool sooner. framing its hard to find enything straight anymore. Its much easyer and quicker using this than a level. Set it an inch off and measure the top and bottom plate. Done! I used it also to set the pitch to a basement drainage and sump system. Indispensable.

Check it when you get it
Right out of the box it was 3/16 out of level in 22' but was plumb on 2 of the 4 lines so I called CPO and they sent me a return shipping label and sent it back few days later I had a new one works great.

I waited to long to buy this tool.
It works as I expected it to. I received it a week ago and have used it to set a odd run of base molding and two drop in ceilings. It sets up fast and gives us a line to work from that is far better than we can set with any level. The only problem I have had is getting it into place to set my base lines. I should have gotten the tripod and or extend-a-pole with the bracket, they are next on my needed tool list. I think it will get used on about every job from now on.

This review is about Recon Bosch GLL3-80
First laser which I ordered was unacceptable, thick lines at about 30 feet distance, accurate reading was impossible.
With professional help and support over the phone, CPO personnel sent me a RMA# which is used later at Fedex ship center to ship a package for free.
Second Laser (also Recon) is great, lines are thin enough (at the same distance about 30') to do accurate readings.
Five stars ;) for the Laser
6 stars for help and support at CPO.
    Thank you.

Can you use a laser detector if you can how far will it reach ?
    A shopper on Dec 1, 2016
One review says the beam is almost 1/4" wide at 25'. Really? If that's a defect, then is there a "no wider than" spec for beam at given distance? What is the beam width at 65'?
    David on Jun 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The laser beam is approximately 1/8" wide. Also, the beam is accurate 1/4 of an inch up to 100 feet.
Does this come with the case?

BEST ANSWER: This listing includes a carrying bag for the unit but not a case.

    New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
    • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
    • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
    • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
